Patient Testimonials

Below are a few of the letters that we have received from laser surgery patients.

I just wanted to take this time to thank you and your staff for the wonderful job you did with my Lasik surgery. It was a very easy and positive experience for me. I called and the next week I had an examination and two days later had the procedure. The following day I drove to work and after being examined realized I had gone from 20/600 vision to 20/15!

It was great to be able to see without glasses or contacts for the first time in 24 years. I have already recommended you to a couple of friends. I hope you and your staff have a great holiday. Thanks again!!

Sincerely,
Berry Oliver

I am a LASIK surgery patient that has just past my 6-month postoperative period. I can't express to you how grateful I am to you and your competent staff for taking such good care of me.

You and your staff took the time to ensure that all my questions were answered. They made me feel comfortable about my decision and did not use any high pressure "sales techniques".

Having worn glasses since the age of seven and having nearsighted vision, I understand the limitations imposed by having to depend on glasses or contacts. I could not see the clock on my nightstand directly beside by bed without putting on my glasses first. Not to mention having to scramble for my glasses when my wife wakes me up in the middle of the night to check out all bumps and noises she seems to hear.

My vision before surgery was 20/300 in one eye prior to surgery. Immediately after surgery, my vision in the same eye was 20/40. To date, my vision is 20/20. I was able to enjoy going to the beach on our family vacation in June and not be bothered with sand irritating my contacts. I could even see boats several hundred feet from the shoreline. What a joy to be able to wear regular sunglasses and not have to worry about finding clips that will fit over my regular glasses!

Dr. Lowry, thank you again. I will be telling everyone I know to come to Lowry Ophthalmology for all his or her eye care needs.

Sincerely,
William R. Cox,
Satisfied Patient

I know that you must receive hundreds of thank you letters, and you can add mine to your list. Having worn glasses or contacts since the age of 10, I was more than anxious to have corrective surgery, but like so many people, I waited until someone I personally knew had it done. Debbie White a friend and neighbor had her surgery at your office and her results were outstanding, coming home with 20/20 vision. Right then and there I decided I was going to go for it.

Your excellent staff was so very friendly and patient when I asked my questions that I decided to have my surgery July 14. I was anxious as anyone would be facing elective surgery, but there was a couple in your "chill out" room before me. The wife was having the procedure, the husband for support. When she came back into the room she was smiling and gave me the OK sign. So in I went.

Your assistant (I am sorry I can't remember her name, she was so nice) told me in detail everything that would happen. The only part that was uncomfortable was the pressure device that held the lids open, but that was only for a few seconds. Having a tooth filled is much worse in my opinion. It seemed as though I was only in there a few minutes and then it was over. My sister who was waiting for me even commented on how quick it went. But the amazing thing was I could see through the little holes in the eye protectors and I could read the signs across the street. I knew that something big had happened.

That night I stayed at my sister's in Raleigh since I live in Pittsboro and sometime during the night I opened my eyes and looked toward the night stand to see what time it was. I couldn't see a thing!! I thought I had gone blind!! Then I realized that I wasn't in my house, or my bed and there wasn't a clock in this bedroom. What a relief!! The next morning I took the eye protectors off and was absolutely amazed at the crisp clean vision I had, I am still getting used to it.

The only draw back to the procedure was as soon as I walked into my house I saw cobwebs in the living room. I asked my husband why he not only never mentioned them but also didn't get them down himself, he said they didn't bother him. So thanks to my new vision I have lost 3 pounds this week doing housework I never saw had to be done before.

I can now see all my students in my evening step/aerobics classes too. I never wore my contacts when I taught because the fans in the gym would blow dust particles into my eyes. I found out last night that they give me the finger when I do something hard. They were sorry they did that last night because I could see them. I am sure they are sore today. Thank you again for working your magic.

Sincerely,
Janet Walker

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then my vocabulary has been drastically increased! After going through life since the sixth grade wearing eyeglasses and later contact lenses, it is extremely exciting to see the world through my own eyes without optical aid. Having gone from 20/400 vision to 20/20 is totally remarkable.

The surgery was quick, painless and handled with an elite level of professionalism. You and your entire staff provide a cozy comfort level that helps diminish the anxiety one might have. The entire office has a relaxed atmosphere.

I am a Lobbyist by profession and appearance is important in building a great first impression and lasting relationship(s). Having the LASIK surgery has given me a new level of confidence when I approach members of the general assembly. Many of them have been very inquisitive about the surgery.

I work out at a local health club. I think I have told everyone that I know there about the surgery. People whom I do not know even tuned in to hear my story. They were just as excited as I am about the results and the advanced technology. If you begin to see my name as a referral, there are reasons. I have told the world about YOU!

Thank you for helping me see the world through my own eyes and Oh, What a Beautiful World!!

Sincerely,
Estherine King Davis

It's been almost one month since you performed laser surgery on both eyes and it's been incredible. I've been in glasses and/or contacts for the past 20 years. Being able to read the alarm clock in the morning, view the television, see in the shower and see clearly at night are a few of the many joys I've experienced in the past three weeks.

One of my favorite moments was throwing away all my contact lens solutions, holders, cleaners, etc. I also love the time I save in the morning and evening because it allows me to spend more time with my son.

I've recommended the procedure to my friends who wear glasses and contacts. If you find yourself treating additional patients from Columbus, Ohio, you'll know why!

Thank you again and thanks to your friendly and supportive staff.

Sincerely,
Juilee Clark
